Sikhs are well appreciated for their role in both the world wars for their gallantry and even have won the Victoria cross. It doesn’t end here only , on 12th Sep. 1897, Sikh made a world record in history of wars when only 21 Sikhs faced10,000 strong force of Afridi Pathans in Saragarhi near Fort Lockhart, distt. Kohat (NWFP). All these twenty one Sikh soldiers who laid down their lives heroically were awarded the highest gallantry award —— the INDIAN ORDER OF MERITT (IOM) equalent to existing PARAM VEER CHAKRA for their supreme valor and sacrifices by British govt. The highest gallantry awards were given on that day to 21 Sikh soldiers which were the highest in strength awarded for any single day anywhere in world.
Their memorials in France, Italy and other nations are the evidences of their gallantry.
So US Army should also open its doors to Sikhs and welcome them to honor the valiant Sikh youths with turbans on their head.
