Finally Sikhs threaten to take back Har-ki-Paudi site

An appeal to Sikh panth to march Haridwar on Bisakhi day 14-04-2014 from Gurudwara Rakabganj Sahib ji, Delhi, to get the possesion of land of Gurudwara GIAN GODRI AT HAR KI PAURI, HARIDWAR which was demolished by Gvt. of UP in 1984. Please contact Gurcharan Singh babbar for more detail. March will start at 5.00 am on 14/04/2014 on Bisakhi day.

Earlier Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee had announced to build the Gurudwara.  When Baba Baljit Singh Daduwal marched to get the control of this site and build the gurudwara there in December 2012. He was arrested at Paonta Sahib, at the border of Himachal-Uttrakhand with his 700 followers. The marchers started from Amritsar and were marching to the site in Hardwar. When they entered Uttaranachal state, they were arrested. They were told they were forbidden to enter the state. Police took them in buses to the police station. On the way, they recited Gurbani and kirtan and sang hymns.  But since the SGPC only remained a silent spectator and did nothing to build the Gurudwara there so finally Sikhs are compelled to take a final decision as justice is never done with Sikhs in India.

kindly see through the google earth the main Gurudwara Gyan Godri was situated at Har ki paudi. It was demolished in 1984 Sikh genocide.

The main sewadar Bibi Rampyari did sewa for many years here, then her daughter did the sewa but she was killed by fanatic Hindus in 1984. The whereabouts of her family is not known.

The other examples of demolition of Sikh holy places/historical gurudwaras are Gurudwara Paonta Sahib ji and Gurudwara Pawwa sahib at Gwalior

Finally Sikhs threaten to take back Har-ki-Paudi site

HARIDWAR: All India Sikh Conference (Babbar) president Guru Charan Singh Babbar, in a letter to the Uttarakhand chief minister Harish Rawat, threatened that his community would assemble in large numbers at Har-ki-Paudi on April 14, to forcibly reclaim the land on which the Gurudwara Sri Gyan Godadi Saheb stood. The warning was issued in a letter addressed to chief minister Harish Rawat on April 4. April 14 is also the Baisakhi bathing day, when a large number of devout Hindus will take a holy dip in the Ganga. In the letter, Guru Charan Singh Babbar had requested the state government to free the gurudwara land, illegally occupied during the anti-Sikh riots of 1984.
The government was instructed to act in the matter by Baisakhi this year (April 14).The letter warned that in case the state administration failed to free the land that belonged to the gurudwara of illegal occupants, “we will reclaim the Gurudwara, even if it means sacrificing our lives.”

Babbar told TOI that Sikhs had been agitating for the gurudwara’s restoration to the community for the last four years. It was particularly dear to them, as it had been built about 450 years ago to commemorate Guru Nanak Saheb’s long stay at Har-ki-Paudi during a visit to Haridwar.

Taking advantage of the anti-Sikh sentiments in the aftermath of then prime minister Indira Gandhi’s assassination in 1984, “some criminals demolished the Gurudwara and illegally occupied the place,” Babbar remarked.

The site has been turned into a Bharat Scouts and Guides office, he said. While the Sikhs insist that the site be handed back to rebuild gurudwara, the administration proposed that the community accept another site for building a gurudwara. That proposal was not acceptable to the Sikh Conference, Babar said.

Copy of the letter sent to CM,Uttrakhand.
